Halothane anaesthesia in turkeys.
An anaesthetic technique employing halothane in oxygen for use in adult turkeys is described. The mixture was administered using a Magill attachment and a Hall cat mask. Induction was rapid and excitement-free. Anaesthesia was maintained for varying periods of time up to a maYimnm of 80 minutes. Recovery was rapid. In a total of twenty-five turkeys no deaths occurred which were attributable to ...
متن کاملA Device for Mechanical Ventilation Suitable for Newborn and Infants during Anaesthesia.
The need for mechanical ventilation during anaesthesia in the newborn and in infants has been strongly felt recently (Rees, 1958; Smith, 1959; Okemian, 1963). Very few ventilators suitable for paediatric anaesthesia are available (e.g. Bennett and Bird), and all are enormously expensive. The Engstrom ventilator has been successfully used for paediatric anaesthesia. The Starling pump, designed o...
متن کاملHalothane anaesthesia and liver damage.
A recent experience of the senior author when addressing a meeting of anaesthetists prompted this review, since it was apparent that there was still considerable disagreement between hepatologists and anaesthetists over the association between liver cell damage and halothane anaesthesia and the measures by which the risk could be minimised. Although during the 1960s and 1970s the evidence was h...
متن کاملPolarization of Multi-Relay Channels: A Suitable Method for DF and CF Relaying with Orthogonal Receiver
Polar codes, that have been recently introduced by Arikan, are one of the first codes that achieved the capacity for vast numerous channels and they also have low complexity in symmetric memoryless channels. Polar codes are constructed based on a phenomenon called channel polarization. This paper discusses relay channel polarization in order to achieve the capacity and show that if inputs of tw...
متن کاملCerebral Blood Flow during Trichloroethylene Anaesthesia: a Comparison with Halothane.
Cerebral blood flow has been measured in dogs using the method of Ingvar and Lassen (1962) in which flow is calculated from the rate of clearance from the exposed cerebral cortex of krypton 85 after its injection into the carotid artery. It was found that the addition of trichloroethylene in concentrations of 0.4-0.9 per cent to a nitrous oxideoxygen anaesthetic mixture did not alter the cerebr...
